O-Toso set passed down from generation
O-Toso set is a Sake pot called Choshi and three sized small cups called Sakazuki.
The O-Toso set is used in various ceremonies but indispensable part of the New Years in Japan. The O-Toso is a custom in which to drink Sake to flush away the previous year's maladies and to bring good health for the year and aspire to lead a long life.
The O-Toso set is best for those who want to enjoy the sake according to traditional manner used for special occasions. The formal Japanese-style table setting using the O-Toso set is also used to confirm the ties with the people surrounding the occasion.
The lacquer ware produced in Fukui prefecture is called Echizen-nuri.
This lacquer ware is drawn very delicate pine leaves with a technique called Chinkin(沈金) . First the craftsman carves a picture on the lacquered surface with a sharp chisel, then he puts gold leaf or gold dust. O-Toso set(one–of–a–kind item)

Instructions of the handling of the lacquer ware
Please do not use direct fire, microwave oven, oven.
Please wash with water or lightly using a tender sponge
with a synthetic detergent used in general.
After washing, please wipe off the drop of water and dry
in a good place of the ventilation.
Please do not use a hard scrubbing brush or cleanser.
Please do not use a dishwasher and a tableware dryer.
Please avoid a side of the fire and the long time exposure
of direct sunlight because it causes transformation or
the change of color.
In extremely rare case but there may be rash with lacquer
by constitution. In that case, please talk with a
dermatological doctor as soon as possible.
